Monochrome Cameras

Monochrome cameras give better performance than colour cameras in low light conditions, due to their enhanced sensitivity (typically down to 0.06 lux). They are also sensitive to infra red light and can therefore be used in night time applications where normal lighting may create environmental issues e.g. in residential areas.

Colour Cameras

The colour camera has become the generally accepted standard for most CCTV installations, due to the benefits of a coloured picture in surveillance operations. However coloured cameras require adequate lighting to provide good pictures and this must be considered, especially if external installation is required.

Colour/Mono Cameras

Developments have enabled the benefits of colour to be combined with the superior night time performance of mono. This is achieved with digital technology allowing the camera to switch from colour to monochrome when the light level falls below a predetermined level (typically 1.0 lux)
