Detection Devices

There are a number of different detection devices that can be used including;

Ultrasonic Detectors

An ultrasonic detector is a detection device that will detect movement within the area it is protecting.

Microwave Detectors

A microwave detector is a detection device that will detect movement within the area it is protecting. It does this by using the Doppler Effect.

Passive Infrared (PIR) Detectors

PIR’s detect the infrared emitted by an intruder.

Dual Technology Detectors

Attempts to reduce false alarms from movement detectors have led to the development of dual technology detectors. These devices have been developed for installation in areas that are unstable and unsuitable for one single type of detector on its own.

Active Infrared Detectors (Infrared Rays)

These detectors detect the presence of an intruder when the beam of IR light is broken.

Break Glass Detectors (BGD)

Break glass sensors are perimeter detection. They monitor glass that is likely to be broken to gain access to premises. They detect the specific frequencies associated with glass breaking.

Acoustic Detectors

These detectors react to the sound frequencies associated with breaking glass.

Protective Switches (Door/Window Contact)

A protective switch is a detection device associated with a moveable part, such as a door or window. The switch operates when the door or window is opened. There are several types of device;

  • Surface contacts
  • Flush contacts
  • Roller shutter contacts
  • Heavy duty & high security contacts
  • Exit terminators
  • Personal attack buttons
  • Door loops
  • Junction boxes
